In the mean time please have a look through our current vacancies safe in the knowledge that should you apply you will be improving outcomes for 1000’s of type 1s who are not currently represented. Plus if the team raise funds then you get paid! DWED is London based but presently the majority communication will be through emails, phone calls and Skype so applications from anywhere in the UK are welcome.
Press & Comms Officer
This is a very important position. DWED needs someone to handle increasing media attention. It is one of our main aims to shelter our members from those who are only interested in exploiting our members for their own financial gain and a few cheap sound bites. We understand that the media is necessary if we are to raise awareness but we don’t want to glamorise ED’s or cheapen the message. What we are looking for is a strong character, with experience of representing/ advocating the vulnerable. Experience dealing with the media is essential. Fundraiser
We are recruiting for people with experience of approaching companies for sponsorship as well as those who are experienced in fundraising. A minimum commitment of 3 months is required but working hours are completely flexible. As an organisation we desperately need funds to move forward. Experience within the sector required. Volunteer Co-ordinator
DWED is currently recruiting for a volunteer co - ordinator to work closely with the directly to ensure that dwed is running efficiently. Duties include ensuring that the team are kept update and ensuring that deadlines are met. Would suit someone looking to cut their teeth in the sector. Support and Helpline
I'm looking for people to help with the back end of the helpline, looking at training, policies, legal issues, regulatory obligations and particularly support for the volunteers themselves, running the helpline is demanding and we have recently shut it down in a bid to start again afresh. Assistant to the Director
I need a lot of help with the day to day running of DWED, admin, volunteer co-ordination, budgets ect. This is a good opportunity to get involved with something from the beginning and sharpen skills if you wish to get into the charity Sector. Writing and Research
We are looking to continue supplying participants for research after vetting studies and continue to work with the IOP and RCP developing new research programmes. We are now looking at furthering our own research within the NHS and within our own demographic, this research will be undertaken under professional guidance from Clinical Psychologists and psychiatrists. Campaigning
